TIL In 1943, Mexican farmer Dionisio Pulido witnessed the birth of a volcano in his cornfield, 200 miles west of Mexico City. Starting as a slight depression, it soon became a smoking, hissing fissure. Over 9 years, the volcano Paricutin grew to a height of 7454 feet & destroyed several towns.
