TIL before the horse was introduced in North America, the Navajo word “łį́į́ʼ” (literally meaning “pet”) was used to refer to dogs. But when horses became the new favoured pet, łį́į́ʼ became the word for “horse”. And dogs are now refered to as “łééchąąʼí”, “shit pets”.
