TIL of Yossele the Holy Miser, a 17th century Jew in Kraków reviled for his stinginess and refusal to give charity. After his death, aid to the poor stopped, revealing he had secretly supported them. Once buried with paupers, his tombstone was later marked “HaTzadik” meaning “the Righteous One.”
