TIL that the sawfish, usually seen in cartoons, really do have a sharp cutting snout. While myths about cutting ship hulls are untrue, injuries from the "saw" are a real threat to fishing boat crews. When the animal is caught it intentionally tries to cut humans by using its snout like a sword.

TIL that when an Indian Captain was badly wounded in WW2 Burma and thought to be on his deathbed, he was quickly awarded a Military Cross because at the time it couldn't be given posthumously. He survived and became the first Indian to be promoted to Field Marshal.
