TIL about Batesian mimicry: a non-poisonous butterfly mimics the bright colors of poisonous ones. Predators avoiding the poisonous colors prey on dark-colored butterflies, favoring the survival of mimics. This increases the frequency of alleles for mimicry in the non-poisonous population.
