TIL Warhol's 'Shot Marilyns' series got its name from performance artist Dorothy Podber asking him if she could shoot the series she saw were stacked in his studio & thinking she meant photograph them, he agreed. She then took a gun from her purse & shot a hole in 4 of the 5 paintings in the series.
