Today I learned about the State of Muskogee. A short lived sovereign state in Florida designed to protect the Native Americans of the Seminole and Muscogee tribes. The leader, William Augustus Bowles, envisioned it to grow to also protect the Cherokee, Choctaw, and Chickasaw tribes as well.
