TIL during an exploration around Peru, in 1940 pilots spotted an isolated hamlet in the jungle. The village was founded by Carlos Fitzcarrald around 1890: and was inhabited by rubber tappers who were apart of his colonizing effort, before the end of the rubber boom isolated them. Story in comments.
