TIL after a failed coup attempt in Japan, Masakatsu Morita acted as a second for the leader's seppuku. After 3 failed attempts to behead him, another man performed the deed. Morita then attempted seppuku himself, but stabbed himself too shallow to be fatal, and had to request his own beheading.
