TIL that 7,000 years ago a vast lake, known as Lake Mega Chad covered much of the current Sahara desert in north-central Africa. At more than 400,000 square kilometers (150,000 square miles) at its peak, it was larger than the Caspian Sea, the biggest lake on Earth today.
