TIL The Liberty pole is derived from the assassination of Ceasar. After the assassinstion the assaliants paraded through Rome, one of the assailants carried a pileus on the end of his spear. The pileus has since been replaced by the Phrygian cap and become a symbol of Liberty and rebellion.
