TIL Famous physicist Sir Roger Penrose conjectures that consciousness is a result of quantum mechanical phenomena in neurons. He has worked with anesthesiologist Stuart Hameroff to suggest with anesthetic/biological research that microtubules may act as a suitable site in neurons for consciousness.
