TIL being typecast as a cowboy, Sam Elliot hoped for a different role when he received The Big Lebowski script. The role turned out to be a cowboy and the Cohen brothers actually wrote in the script that this cowboy 'sounding not unlike Sam Elliott' and 'looking not unlike Sam Elliot'.
