TIL Jesse Brown, the first USN black aviator, was killed after his F4U Corsair was hit by Chinese fire and crashed near Chosin Reservoir on 12/4/1950. His wingman, Thomas Hudner, purposely crashed his plane to try & save him and in doing so, was the only USN pilot in the Korean War to receive a MOH.
