TIL of Douglas Albert Munro, the only US Coast Guard to receive the Medal of Honor. Whilst providing cover for ground troops with his boat, Munro was fatally wounded. The last words he said were, "did they get off?" referring to the soldiers he'd saved. He was 22 years old.
