TIL of Charles Hatfield who, in 1915, said he could make rain to fill a dam for $10,000. It flooded, the dam broke, 20 people died, and $3.5m of damage was caused. He sued to get paid, but had forgotten to sign the contract. It was deemed an Act Of God, but he also wasn't held liable.
