TIL that during WWII ‘Trophy Taking’ of Japanese skulls & other body parts by US soldiers was so prevalent that when Japanese soldiers’ remains were repatriated from the Mariana Islands 60% were missing their skulls. FDR was even given a letter-opener made from a Japanese soldier’s arm.
