TIL about myco-architecture--an ongoing project at NASA ARC to prototype fungi that would grow into usable habitats on Mars. Once fully grown, the fungi would be baked. The project aims to reduce weight carried on rockets when compared to the typically envisaged metal-and-glass buildings.
