TIL: about Executive Order 6102 in 1933 an order was signed by president Franklin Rosevelt stating that owning of gold was illegal and if you were in Possession of more than 5 Troy ounce after May 1st 1933 it was punishable by a $10,000 fine(almost $200,000 in 2020 ) and or 10 years in prison.
