TIL Eddie Anderson was the first black man to have a horse run in the Kentucky Derby. Because of segregation Anderson stayed with civil rights leader Mae Street Kidd in Louisville. When Anderson's horse won a race he dressed up as a Kentucky colonel at MGM and only answered to 'Colonel Rochester'
