TIL the emperor tamarin was named for its elegant and distinctive mustache which was thought by some to resemble the mustache of German emperor Wilhelm II. In 1907, the Swiss zoologist Emil August Goeldi named the monkey "emperor" as a joke, but it then became the species name we know it by today.
