TIL about New Mexico lawman Elfego Baca, who in 1884 defended the town's adobe jail against 40 armed cowboys. After 33 hours and 4,000 rounds of ammunition, Baca surrendered. Baca brought the door to court as evidence: it had more than 400 bullet holes in it.
