TIL that one can tell by the ears of chickens what color the eggs they lay. Chickens' ears are actually earlobes, which are flaps of skin under the ear canal that lie just behind the eyes. In most cases, hens with white earlobes also lay white eggs and hens with red earlobes produce brown eggshells.
