TIL that British General Lord Cornwallis, the man who lost at Yorktown thus losing the US Revolution ended his career as Governor-General of India in July, 1805 and died there 3 months later. He is interred in Gauspur in Ghazipur in a neo-classical tomb.

840L TIL The aircraft carrier USS Yorktown was heavily damaged after destroying a Japanese aircraft carrier during the first carrier battle in history. After 48 hours of emergency repairs, it ended up helping destroy two more carriers before being sunk, and inadvertently saved the other US carriers.
