TIL that during the 1956 Hungarian revolution, British embassy staff, with the aid of Hungarian revolutionaries, were able to capture an abandoned Soviet T-54 tank and keep it in the British embassy long enough for British engineers to study the tank and determine its strength and weaknesses.
