TIL of Deryfold, a notorious pirate who was captured off the coast of Flanders by Sir John Perrot in 1579. On the way back to England Perrot's ship struck a sandbank and was nearly wrecked, but Deryfold's nautical expertise got them safely into port. Perrot made sure he was pardoned.
