TIL On May 20, 1989, Martial Law was declared in Tiananmen Square as its citizens demanded political reform. Just over a month into these protests, soldiers and officers stormed the Square while firing live rounds. The event is commonly referred to as June Fourth Massacre and June Fourth Crackdown.
