TIL there is another Great Wall in Asia located in northern Iran east of the Caspian Sea. Called the "Great Wall of Gorgan" It stretches for 195km(121m) long. 6-10m(20-33ft) wide. There are over 30 forts between 10-50km(6-31m) apart. It is made of fired mud-bricks and has a distinct red color.

TIL in 1944 a bunch of prisoners decided to revolt at Auschwitz by blowing up the crematorium and gas chambers. They were able to destroy one gas chamber and several crematoria, injuring and killing several SS guards. Ultimately, the revolt was unsuccessful and all were caught and executed.

TIL that when he was wounded, Thomas Baker ordered his squad to leave him propped against a tree, with a pistol and eight bullets. Later, American forces found the now-deceased Baker in the same spot, holding an empty pistol, with eight dead Japanese soldiers lying around him.
