TIL that upon the archaeological discovery of Chechen-Soviet soldiers from WW2 in Ukraine, archaeologists discovered letters addressed to relatives in Chechen towns which no longer exist. Further investigation revealed the Khaibakh massacre perpetrated by Soviet forces.
