TIL that research shows that your earphones are indeed spontaneously knotting themselves. A string of lenght 0.5m-1.5m has a 50 percent chance of knoting in a confined space, meaning earbuds with the 'Y' shape chord have atleast as much or a even higher chance depending on lenght and agitation.
