TIL that B-Movies were meant to be the bottom half of a double movie feature and were cheaper than Hollywood A-List Films (about 20% of the budget). Until the 1950s and 1960s, they were just considered cheaper films that theatres would pay a flat rental fee. The 'B' was not a grade for poor value.
