TIL an analysis of reported carnivore attacks worldwide from 1950-2019 documented 5,440 attacks from 12 different species of big cats, canids, and bears. Of those attacks, about 1 in 3 were fatal. Big cats were the deadliest, with 65% proving fatal compared to 49% for canids and just 9% for bears.
