TIL the first non-stop transatlantic flight happened in 1919. Two British aviators, J. Alcock and A. Brown, flew from Canada to Ireland, completing the trip in just under sixteen hours. On the way, they lost radio contact and heating, and flew through fog and snow, freezing in the open plane.
