TIL an Egyptian special forces unit got confused for terrorists while attempting to storm a hijacked plane, 15 were killed by Cypriot forces. 7 years later the unit tried to storm another plane by attaching explosives to it, 56 of the hostages died. The unit was subsequently disbanded.
