TIL Canon, written in the 17th Century by Johann Pachelbel, is well-known music often played at weddings and Christmas. But it was forgotten after it was written and languished in obscurity for centuries. It wasn't published until 1919; wasn't recorded until 1940; was virtually unknown until 1968.
