TIL that Alice Marie Harris (1932–1942), was a child from Pennsylvania raised in isolation. Abused for being illegitimate, she was strapped down in an attic from five months to six years old, malnourished and unable to move or speak. She was rescued in 1938 but died at age ten from jaundice.
