Today I learned that the monks from Monty Python’s The Holy Grail are chanting “Pie Iesu Domine, dona eis requim,” which in English means “Holy Jesus, Lord, grant them rest.” It’s from “Dies Irae” (“Judgement Day”), a 13th century Latin hymn that has been set to music by dozens of famous composers.
