TIL all the special effects in John Carpenter's "The Thing" (1982) was done by artist Rob Bottin, except for the Dog-Thing in the kennel scene, which was done by Stan Winston. Stan then declined screen credit in the film as to not take away from Rob’s work, so he got a "special thanks" mention.
