TIL the rainbow grasshopper (Dactylotum bicolor) is native to the United States, Canada and northern Mexico. When threatened, it exhibits aposematism or warning coloration to mimic brightly colored stinkbugs which lizards avoid. Studies show that birds find rainbow grasshoppers to be distasteful.
