TIL Helike, an Ancient Greek city was submerged after an earthquake and tsunami. It remained underwater in an inland lagoon for centuries before eventually silting over and disappearing. It is thought that it may have been part of the inspiration behind Atlantis. It was only rediscovered in 2001.
