TIL the largest safety recall in US history occurred because of defective Takata airbags that can deploy explosively and have killed at least 27 people & injured over 400. Overall, 67 million airbags in 42 million vehicles from 34 brands (mostly model years 2002-2015) have been recalled in the US.
