TIL Elizabeth Short’s (the Black Dahlia) mother found out she’d been murdered when a reporter called her and said her daughter won a beauty contest. The reporter then proceeded to get a bunch of information about Elizabeth before telling her mother she'd been brutally murdered and hanging up.
