TIL about Margaret Ives Abbott the first woman to win a medal in the modern Olympics, and also part of the only mother-daughter pair to compete in one Olympics. Margaret won at golf, her mother, Mary, came in seventh. Coinciding with the Paris Exposition, many were unaware they were in the Olympics.
