TIL in 1972, Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 crashed in the Andes Mountain east of Chile. The survivors had to resort to cannibalism to survive in freezing cold weather. Rescue arrived after two months when two survivors climbed a 4650-meter mountain peak and hiked 61 km to seek help.
