TIL actress Dominique Dunne, most famous for her portrayal of Dana in the 1982 film Poltergeist, was strangled by her ex-boyfriend, John Sweeney, in the driveway of her home shortly after the film's release. She went into a coma and died five days later. Sweeney served less than 4 years in prison.
