TIL that workers at Yosemite National Park used to create a 3,000 foot "waterfall" of fire by building a massive bonfire at the top of Glacier Point and push the burning embers over the edge. The practice went on for almost 100 years and only ended in 1968.

TIL: There’s a statue in Glasgow called the “Duke of Wellington” with a traffic cone on its head since 1980. The city removed it several times but a new one would appear in the night so they gave up and it now a permanent icon of the city.

TIL There is a bar named Jack Ruby's Saloon in downtown Dallas mere blocks from The Sixth Floor Museum and Dealey Plaza (Site of JFK assassination). The history buff owner loves the fact that Ruby, who shot JFK's assassin, owned a bar and sells T-shirts that says "I took a shot at Jack Ruby's."
