TIL about the Camondo Stairs in Istanbul, Turkey which were built by Abraham Salomon Camondo in the 1870s. The stairway was constructed as a shortcut for his children to go to school and its hexagonal shape was designed to prevent his children from falling further down the steps in case they fell.
