TIL Albert Anastasia, considered to be one of the deadliest criminals of all time, was sentenced to death for the murder of a longshoreman in 1921. In 1922 he won a retrial on a technicality and went on to become boss of the Gambino Family & Murder Inc. He was responsible for thousands of murders.
