TIL McDonald's Filet-O-Fish was invented by franchiser Lou Groen because of falling hamburger sales on Fridays (Lent)in his area. Ray Krock made a deal - they would sell his own "Hula Burger" (grilled pineapple) and the Filet-O-Fish one on Friday, the bestseller would be added to the permanent menu.
