TIL Teruo Nakamura, a Japanese solider in WWII, fled to Indonesia in 1944. There he survived alone in the jungle as the believed that the war continued. Later, a pilot accidentally found his hut in 1974 and shortly after, he became the last WWII soldier to surrender (30 years after the war ended).
